I think it’s very important for everyone to have a “why” when it comes to weight loss. If you only want to lose weight to lose it, then that’s not a very good reason, in my opinion. For me I want to lose weight for several different reasons.
One, I have a rare heart disorder. When I had my second son I was diagnosed with peripartium cardiomyopathy. It’s where your heart gets weakened by the pregnancy and can become enlarged or go into heart failure. For me, I went into heart failure and was in the hospital for 2 weeks. I was put on different heart meds and told to lose weight. Well, I did lose weight but now I’ve gained some of that weight back which puts an additional strain on my heart. Luckily, right now my heart is functioning at an “almost” normal rate but with my weight loss, I hope to get it up to normal or above normal. So this is a very important reason to lose weight for me.
Two, I want to be able to run around with my kids and play without getting out of breath or tired easily. My kids are 6 and 4 so they love to do activities outside and inside. I want to be able to run with them and play tag and do other things that I’m not able to do very long now. With all this extra weight to carry around, I just can’t do much. With my weight loss, I will though!
Three, I want to fit into the dresses I did back in the summer of 2010. I wore size 4 or 6 size dress and these dresses are so very cute! I want to be able to go out this summer in one of these dresses and feel accomplished. I want to feel sexy and beautiful. My husband tells me I am but in my heart, I don’t feel it. I want to feel it again. I think it’s very important to feel what you are instead of “think” what you are.
Four, I want to swim 500 meters again. I used to be a swimmer and loved to swim long distances. I’m lucky now to swim 50 meters without having to stop and take a break. Swimming is just a part of my life. I want to be able to long distance swim and possibly sign up for a swimming competition or two. I’ll have to fit into a nice bathing suit so there’s another reason to lose weight!
